The Higher Education Commission has officially launched a fully online and paperless Degree Attestation System (DAS), bringing a major change for students and graduates across Pakistan.
Under the upgraded system, applicants will no longer need to visit HEC offices physically or send original educational documents through courier services for attestation. The new online mechanism has been introduced to make the process faster, easier, and more secure for students living in different cities of Pakistan and abroad.
The new e-Attestation Certificate system became effective from May 11, 2026, and applications can now be submitted online 24/7 through the HEC e-Services Portal.
Major Relief for Students and Graduates
For years, students had to face long waiting times, travel expenses, courier risks, and crowded HEC centers for degree attestation. Many applicants from remote areas had to travel to cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, or Peshawar just to complete the verification process.
With the new digital system, all attestation procedures will now be handled online. Applicants can upload their academic documents digitally, track their applications, and receive attestation certificates electronically without visiting any office.
HEC says the upgraded system is designed to provide a secure, transparent, and user-friendly experience while reducing delays and paperwork.
Old Applications Automatically Cancelled
HEC has also announced an important update for students who had already applied before May 11, 2026.
According to the commission, applicants who submitted degree or transcript attestation requests under the previous “By Courier” or “Walk-In/Urgent” system but had not yet paid the attestation fee will see their applications automatically cancelled.
Such applicants will now need to submit fresh applications under the new online e-attestation system.
This change means students will no longer have to send original degrees or transcripts through courier services, which was previously a major concern for many applicants worried about document loss or delays.
Online Verification Facility Introduced
Another important feature of the new system is online verification. Institutions, employers, and foreign authorities will be able to verify attested documents digitally, helping improve authenticity and reduce fraud.
The initiative is part of HEC’s broader effort to digitize educational services in Pakistan and improve convenience for students, graduates, universities, and employers.
How to Apply for HEC Online Degree Attestation
Students and graduates can now apply through the official HEC e-Services Portal by creating an account, uploading scanned documents, and completing the online application process.
The new system is expected to benefit thousands of applicants every month, especially overseas Pakistanis and students living far from HEC regional centers.
Education experts believe the paperless attestation mechanism is a significant step toward modernizing academic verification services in Pakistan and reducing unnecessary difficulties for students.
Attestation Fee
he Higher Education Commission has also clarified the fee structure for the new online degree attestation system.
According to the updated policy, the attestation fee is charged per document, not per page.
This means:
- Degree attestation fee: Rs. 3,000
- Transcript attestation fee: Rs. 3,000
So, if a student wants both degree and a transcript attested, the total fee will be Rs. 6,000.
Importantly, the transcript fee will remain Rs. 3,000 regardless of how many pages the transcript contains. Whether the transcript has 2 pages or 10 pages, applicants will not be charged separately for each page.
The clarification has provided relief to many students who were confused about whether multi-page transcripts would result in additional charges under the new online attestation system.
