The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced summer vacations for educational institutions in the province’s plain areas from May 22 to August 31, 2026.
According to sources in the education department, the holidays were initially scheduled to begin on June 1. However, authorities decided to start the vacations earlier due to the upcoming weekly holidays and Eid ul Adha break.
Officials said May 22, 23, and 24 already fall on the regular Friday, Saturday, and Sunday holidays. Educational institutions would then reopen only for two working days on May 25 and 26 before Eid holidays begin on May 27 and continue until May 31.
To avoid a short and impractical reopening period, the provincial government approved the early start of summer vacations from May 22.
The education department added that the previously announced vacation schedule for extremely cold mountainous regions of the province will remain unchanged.
According to the official schedule, educational institutions in the coldest mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will observe summer vacations from July 1 to July 31, 2026.
