Good news for the 2.5 million students across Punjab who will appear in the Matric exams 2025. The Punjab Higher Education Department has started reviewing a proposal to conduct the Matric Examination 2025 after the month of Ramadan, following the recommendation of the Provincial Education Minister.
Why the Change in Exam Schedule?
According to official sources, Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall on 19 or 20 March 2025, while Ramadan is likely to begin on 18 February 2025. For many years, Matric exams often overlapped with Ramadan, causing stress and difficulty for students who struggled to prepare properly while fasting.
This time, the authorities are considering shifting the exams after Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure better performance and ease for students.
Number of Students Expected to Appear
The Lahore Board alone receives over 300,000 Matric exam candidates every year. When combined with all Punjab boards, the total number of students exceeds 25 lakhs (2.5 million).
Teachers Support the Proposal
Teachers have appreciated this proposal, saying:
-
Students find it difficult to focus on preparation during Ramadan.
-
Conducting exams after Ramadan allows students to study with full energy.
-
Post-Eid exam dates will lead to improved performance and less stress.
According to the teaching community, holding the Matric Exam 2025 after Ramadan is a student-friendly and practical decision.
