Pakistan Medical Commission has changed the merit formula for MBBS and BDS Admission. It is announced that marks of only science subjects will be used in merit determination for admission to medical and dental colleges of the country. It was decided by the National Medical and Dental Council.
The council approved a policy for the calculation of merit for the upcoming admissions in line with the government policy whereas the marks obtained by the student in the science elective shall only be used for the calculation of merit. This policy will apply to all students taking their FSc exams in 2021 and also those who are applying on the basis of either last year's FSc result or A'level results to ensure no discrimination in merit calculation.
The council also approved a special provision for A-Level students. At the request of the Ministry of Education, a special window from 10th January to 10th February 2022 for colleges to accommodate any student who will take their A-Level examination in October 2021 with results expected in February 2022. The specific methodology shall be notified as an addendum to the PMC Medical and Dental Undergraduate Education (Admission, Curriculum and Conduct) Regulations 2021.
