The Government of Pakistan’s Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (ICT-PEIRA) has officially allowed private schools and colleges in Islamabad Capital Territory to organize summer camps during the 2026 summer vacations.
According to an official notification issued on June 4, 2026, educational institutions can conduct summer camps from June 8, 2026, to July 8, 2026, under specific safety and administrative guidelines.
Summer Camps Allowed in Islamabad Schools
The notification states that all private educational institutions operating under the jurisdiction of ICT-PEIRA are permitted to arrange curricular summer camp activities for students during the summer break.
However, schools and colleges must strictly follow the terms and conditions issued by the authority.
Important Guidelines for Summer Camps 2026
ICT-PEIRA has issued the following instructions for schools conducting summer camps:
- Summer camps can only be conducted from Monday to Thursday.
- Friday will remain off.
- Camps are allowed for students of all classes.
- Timings for summer camps will be from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM only.
- Schools are not allowed to charge any extra or additional fee for summer camps.
- All classes and activities must be conducted indoors or inside classrooms.
- Participation in summer camps will not be mandatory for students.
- Parents’ consent will be necessary for student participation.
- Schools must ensure basic facilities including clean drinking water, fans, cleanliness, sitting arrangements, and electricity backup during load shedding.
- Institutions must keep first aid boxes with necessary medical supplies.
- Students attending summer camps will not be required to wear uniforms.
PEIRA Directs Schools to Ensure Compliance
The authority has directed all private educational institutions in Islamabad to ensure full compliance with the instructions “in letter and spirit.”
The notification was signed by Muhammad Javed Iqbal, Secretary ICT-PEIRA, and circulated to principals and chief executive officers of private educational institutions in Islamabad Capital Territory.
Relief for Parents and Students
The decision is expected to benefit students who want academic engagement during vacations without additional financial burden, as schools have been clearly instructed not to charge extra fees for summer camp activities.
The early morning timing and indoor activity condition have also been introduced considering the ongoing heatwave and high summer temperatures in many parts of the country.
