Higher Education Commission HEC Islamabad has once again informed the students and parents that Private Universities/DAIs are not authorized to offer affiliation to the colleges and institutions. Private Universities can only operate through their main campuses/principal seats or through sub campuses. Sub-Campuses of private universities are also required to get NOC from HEC.
The list of HEC recognized sub-campuses of private universities is available on HEC website. Higher Education Commission has issued a student/parent alert again regarding the degree status of affiliated colleges of the private universities. The degree by an affiliated college/institute of any private university will not be recognized by HEC.
Only Public Sector universities are allowed to award affiliation to the colleges/institutions within their own territory. HEC has banned the affiliation of private universities due to severe irregularities in the past. Hence students are advised to take admission only in Government affiliated colleges and institutes.
The quality of education offered at affiliated colleges of private universities is another major issue. Private universities mostly award affiliation to gain maximum monetary benefit. Hence mostly they compromise over the standards of quality education. Due to these reasons, HEC has banned the affiliation of colleges with private universities.
