The Punjab School Education Department has decided to allow schools to organize summer camps for one month during the summer vacations to help students continue their studies and complete their syllabus.
According to provincial education authorities, schools will be permitted to start summer camps from the beginning of the summer holidays, while formal permission will be granted from the first week of vacations. The camps will operate from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM to protect students from extreme heat.
Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Education said the decision has been taken to ensure that students do not face academic loss due to the extended holidays. The summer camps will mainly focus on syllabus completion and revision activities.
The Punjab government had earlier announced three months of summer vacations for schools with the approval of the provincial cabinet. Due to intense weather conditions and rising temperatures, schools across the province will remain closed until August 23.
Meanwhile, the government is also considering a proposal to end Saturday holidays in schools after the summer vacations in order to compensate for academic time lost during the extended break.
