Punjab Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education has officially announced that candidates who fail in one or more subjects will now be given up to 6 total attempts to pass their exams. This new policy, applicable to students who failed in the 2024 annual examinations, aims to reduce academic pressure and give students more opportunities to complete their intermediate education.
Under this updated system, students will no longer be restricted to a small number of supplementary chances. Instead, they can reappear multiple times within the allowed limit of six attempts, without the fear of immediately losing their academic year. This is a major shift from previous policies where limited chances often created stress and forced students to either repeat the year or leave their studies.
Another important point is that students will appear in these additional attempts according to the syllabus in effect at the time of the exam. If there are any changes in the curriculum or paper pattern, students will have to prepare based on the updated syllabus rather than the one they studied earlier. This ensures fairness and alignment with the current education system.
This decision is expected to benefit thousands of students across Punjab by giving them more flexibility and confidence. It sends a clear message that failure in one attempt is not the end, and students now have multiple chances to improve their performance and continue their academic journey.
Students are advised to stay updated with announcements from their respective boards regarding exam schedules, registration procedures, and syllabus updates so they can make full use of these six attempts and plan their preparation accordingly.
