The Higher Education Department of Punjab has taken a major step to support students by launching counseling centers in government colleges across the province. This initiative aims to improve students’ character, mental health, and overall development while preparing them for a better future.
Officials confirmed that these counseling centers will offer 13 different services. These services include psychological support, socio-economic guidance, and awareness about health and hygiene. Students will also receive help with academic challenges so they can perform better in their studies.
The centers will also focus on career counseling, job opportunities, skill development, and professional training. Through these services, students will gain clarity about their future paths and make better career decisions in practical life.
The Secretary of the Higher Education Department has directed all colleges to establish these counseling centers immediately and ensure they function effectively. Following these instructions, the Directorate of Public Instruction (Colleges) has issued clear guidelines to all college principals.
Authorities have also made it mandatory for institutions to submit monthly performance reports. This step will help monitor the effectiveness of the counseling centers and ensure that students receive maximum benefit from this initiative.
This move highlights the government’s focus on student well-being, career readiness, and holistic education in Punjab.
