Lahore: The Punjab School Education Department has launched a large-scale Spoken English Language Training Program aimed at improving the English language proficiency of 35,000 government school teachers across the province.
According to officials, the initiative will provide teachers with internationally recognized training in English speaking and writing skills, helping them enhance their classroom communication and teaching effectiveness.
The training program is being conducted in collaboration with international language training organization Berlitz and the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC). The initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to strengthen teachers' professional development and improve the quality of education in public schools.
Education authorities stated that participating teachers will undergo an initial assessment to evaluate their current level of English proficiency. Completion of an assessment Google Form has been made mandatory for enrollment in the program.
Training sessions will be held at designated District PECTA headquarters and selected schools across Punjab. Classes will take place twice a week, with each session lasting two hours and fifteen minutes.
The School Education Department has emphasized that 100 percent attendance will be mandatory for all selected teachers to ensure the successful achievement of the program's learning objectives.
Education experts have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward improving English language instruction in government schools. They believe the program will not only strengthen teachers' communication skills but also help students develop better language proficiency and improve their academic performance.
The launch of the Spoken English Training Program reflects the Punjab government's commitment to enhancing teaching standards and equipping educators with modern skills needed for effective classroom instruction in the 21st century.
