LAHORE: The Punjab government has proposed a massive allocation of Rs172.77 billion for the Chief Minister Honhaar Scholarship Program, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to higher education for talented and deserving students across the province.
According to budget documents for the upcoming fiscal year, the government has recommended Rs33.25 billion for the scholarship program in FY 2026-27. The initiative is aimed at providing financial assistance to academically outstanding students facing economic challenges, enabling them to continue their higher education without financial barriers.
The Honhaar Scholarship Program is one of the flagship youth welfare initiatives of the Punjab government and has been included among the Chief Minister’s priority development projects. The program seeks to promote educational equity by ensuring that talented students from all socioeconomic backgrounds have access to quality higher education.
Students from Punjab are expected to benefit from the scheme. Thousands of students enrolled in public sector universities, colleges, and other higher education institutions are likely to receive scholarships under the program.
Officials said the initiative is designed not only to reduce the financial burden on families but also to enhance human resource development and improve the overall quality of education in the province.
