Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced a new policy aimed at strengthening the examination system by allowing intern teachers to participate in paper checking and examination supervision duties.
According to official sources, the decision was made under the directions of Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat. Under the revised policy, School Teacher Interns and other temporary teaching staff working in schools and colleges will be eligible to take part in examination-related responsibilities.
The new arrangement is expected to come into effect from the upcoming examination cycle. Before being assigned duties, eligible candidates, including university graduates and intern teachers, will receive proper training to ensure they understand examination procedures and assessment standards.
Education officials believe the initiative will help increase the number of trained personnel available during examination periods and improve the overall management of exams across the province.
The development follows the Punjab government's earlier decision to stop private teachers from participating in examination activities. Authorities say the new policy will create a more organized and transparent system by utilizing trained interns and temporary educators within the public education sector.
Officials added that the training program will focus on paper marking methods, examination rules, and invigilation procedures to ensure fair and effective conduct of examinations.
The policy is expected to support educational institutions by addressing staff shortages during examination seasons while also providing practical experience to young teachers and graduates entering the education field.
