AUDIOLOGY
Hearing is one of our most vital senses, and audiologists are experts in the management of the auditory and balance disorders. Audiologist specialize in the study of normal and impaired hearing, prevention of hearing loss, identification and assessment of hearing and balance problems and rehabilitation of persons with hearing and balance disorders. Audiologists are professionals who work with people that exhibit hearing, balance, and related ear problems. They examine individuals of all ages and identify those with the symptoms of hearing loss and other auditory, balance, and related neural problems. They then assess the nature and extent of the problems and help manage them. Using audiometers, computers, and other testing devices, they measure the loudness at which a person begins to hear sounds, his/her ability to distinguish between sounds, and the impact of hearing loss or balance problems on an individual’s daily life. Audiologists interpret these results and may coordinate them with medical, and psychological information to make a diagnosis and determine a course of treatment.
Career Opportunities
Most Audiology jobs are in private clinics of physicians and audiologists; in hospitals; and in outpatient care centers. Some jobs are in educational services, including elementary and secondary schools. Other jobs for audiologists are in health and personal care stores, including hearing aid stores; scientific research and development services; and State and local governments. Some audiologists specialize in work with the elderly, children, or hearing-impaired individuals who need special therapy programs. Others develop and implement ways to protect workers’ ears from on-the-job injuries. They measure noise levels in workplaces and conduct hearing protection programs in factories, as well as in schools and communities. A small number of audiologists are self-employed in private clinics. They provide hearing health care services in their own offices or work under contract for schools, health care facilities, or other establishments There are numerous opportunities for a graduate of B.Sc. M.Phil, PhD and Specializations Courses are available worldwide. Graduates are also eligible to apply for the foreign and local scholarships for higher studies as offered by HEC.

*مسلح افواج میں خدمات انجام دینے والے افراد،پائلٹ اور مختلف شعبوں میں کام کرنے والے افراد کی سماعت کی درستگی کے درجات ان کے کام کی نوعیت کے لحاظ سے چیک کرنابھی ماہر سماعت کی ایک اہم ذمہ داری ہے۔
*صنعتی اداروں میں سماعت کے تحفظ اور شور پر قابوپانے کے لئے مختلف طریقہ کار ماہر سماعت کی مدد سے تجویز کئے جاتے ہیں ،بچوں اور بڑوں میں ہکلاہٹ پر قابوپانے اور چبانے اور نگلنے کے عمل کے دوران ہونے والی تکالیف کا علاج بھی ماہر سماعت کے پاس موجود ہوتاہے۔
*Cleft palate،سماعت سے محروم، دماغی فالج یادیر سے بولنے والے افراد کاعلاج کرنا۔
